Dunaventuras

  • Several of us in our pueblo, San Isidro, have joined together to protect the natural beauty of our area and to share it with others.
  • You're invited to join us for nature tours of the dunes and the river (by kayak), to do some birding (highlighted by the the massive bird migrations in Octuber), and to try out some extreme sport all in the same day or two.
  • San Isidro is 40 minutes by bus up the coast from the city of Veracruz. We'll meet you at the bus station and rendez-vous with others at our family's country store. From there we'll head out through the sugar cane fields to the dunes or the river or the beach..

Sandboarding at the Edge of the Ocean

  • Learn to sandboard and begin enjoying the dunes immediately
  • Begin small and work your way up as quickly as you want
  • Play in the surf to cool off
  • We'll take plenty of time for a discussion of the flora and fauna of the dunes. Sand dunes are surprisingly full of life.

And then it's time for downhill

 

Smooth Water Kayak River Nature Tour



  • Float leisurely along the river and let our guide talk about the flora and fauna
  • Kayak comfortably in the smooth water
  • Paddle to the river's mouth and feel the ocean begin to take over



  • Part of the river float is under the canopy and bird life is abundant
  • There's a bit of choppy water, but only choppy enough to enjoy the sensation

You can race to the finish, or you can take it easy and let the river do the work

 

We're on one of the Americas' most important bird migration routes

In Octuber at the height of the migration more than 400,000 birds migrate over San Isidro every day.
